How the Munitions List is organized
Twenty-one categories built the same way, two catch-alls with no fixed contents, and Commerce entries that sit alongside.
02USML Category I: firearms
Caseless, fully automatic and fire control firearms and suppressors are Significant Military Equipment, and many parts are caught only if specially designed.
03USML Category II: guns and armament
Guns, howitzers, mortars and grenade launchers above .50 caliber, with integrated guns placed in the category of their carrier.
04USML Category III: ammunition and ordnance
Ammunition is listed by projectile, construction or packaging, with blank rounds, dummies and destroyed casings left out.
05USML Category IV: rockets, missiles and munitions
End items sorted by payload and range, launchers, power plants and warheads, then thirty parts entries and two special launch services.
06USML Category V: explosives and energetic materials
Seven families of substances identified mostly by name and CAS number, with performance tests for propellants and a rule for converted materials.
